Chicken Tikka Wrap
In the long list of century old appetizing South Asian dishes, Chicken Tikka is not a new name. You must have had it at least once in your life; unless you have been living under a rock, even there you’d probably find some version out of the thousands of variations of this South Asian Barbeque night staple.
The classic method is to take chicken pieces, a whole leg if you want, and marinating it for a few hours in a mix of vinegar, salt, red chilli powder, turmeric, garam masala powder, cumin seed powder, crushed black pepper, crushed red pepper, crushed coriander seeds, ginger and garlic paste, lemon, and yogurt to combine it altogether.
The cherry on the top or in this case, red hot coals under the skewered meat to smoke the chicken, is quite essential to truly turn it into the tikka we all love. Chicken Tikka is not just a dish on its own but also a special “ingredient” to make other spin offs of it. Ranging from chicken tikka biryani to chicken tikka masala and the ultimate fusion food, chicken tikka wrap!
It’s the best of both worlds, if you love wraps and chicken tikka. Now close your eyes and imagine: a fresh hot naan, straight out of a tandoor, layered with pieces of smoked chicken tikka, marinated onions and tangy chutney, all wrapped together; served with a side of fresh kachumber salad, hot and crispy French fries and mint chutney.
